I decided to leak a preview of my MPC skills today. This is just a preview of a much bigger routine that will be released soon. There is no sequencing involved and all of the individual parts are being played with my fingers. I have many routines like this that I have never shown anyone and I decided it was time. Enjoy! Kid Cudi “Pursuit Of Happiness” (Feat. Ratatat & MGMT) Video

I actually have to admit I enjoyed the new Kid Cudi album. I wasn’t a fan at first until I viewed it as pop music instead of hip hop. That being said Cudi came together with the two indie giants Ratatat and MGMT for what is the most memorable track on his whole album. However, I think without MGMT this track might not have been that impressive. Their catchy hook was what made it for me. It makes me want to just here MGMT on hip hop beats now. This video dropped and its great. I think it matches the song perfectly. I love the slow motion bar scene. There are also some guest appearances if you watch close enough.

The Bravery ‘Slow Poison’ Retro Space Video

I am not a huge Bravery fan, but I am a huge fan of anything space related. I was supremely jealous of this video, because it is everything I could wish my life could be. The type of life where you explore alien civilizations, see trippy colors all the time, ride a space escalator, and lounge around the galaxy in a space suit…. you know, the usual. This video replicates what it would be like to have an acid trip on the moon I guess. Either way, the video is done perfectly. The band had this to say about the video:

Wale + The Roots “Pretty Girl”

Usually I don’t like hyped up emcees. I am just never impressed, however I think Wale is amazing. Now I am sure many will say “but he isn’t that great of a lyricist” or “blah blah blah”, but that’s not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about overall product. Wale knows how to craft songs that make people want to sing a long and he does it with class and style. For Wale’s new release he hopped on the Jimmy Fallon show and showed his true colors by performing “Pretty Girls” with the ever amazing Roots. I loved this video, because usually artists are terrible live especially hip hop acts, but Wale and The Roots destroy this song and make it sound so easy. Enjoy grooving to this. I hope we see more like this soon….

If you are in Dallas today you will actually know its nice out, which it hasn’t been in a week or two. If you aren’t Dallas just know we have been living through some really boring, hardcore rain for about a week. In commemoration of everything around here being flooded I have decided to post The Drums “Let’s Go Surfing”. Why you ask? To keep it positive! What do you do when the heavens give you water everywhere? You don’t cry. You surf. Now suit up. Let’s go.

Ever wonder what kind of music the Cure’s Robert Smith would make if he took some Prozac and got a tan? Yours Truly Presents: Nosaj Thing

New video starring Nosaj Thing. This video just dropped a couple days ago and his high quality with Nosaj jamming some tracks, and talking about why he does what he does. Nosaj even explains how he does his live sets with Ableton Live and calling upon his clips and parts at random. Very good stuff.

Deuce Poppi “My White Friends”

I recently came across this on a blog and was laughing hysterically because this is so ridiculous but at the same time all of the stuff it shows white people doing in this are true. So I couldn’t help but laugh. I am glad someone has addressed this topic with sincerity and humor. I’m not saying it’s a good song, but man I was rolling on the floor laughing the whole time especially when that fool goes sky diving.

Armand Van Helden & A-TRAK Present Duck Sauce – “aNYway”

This video of Armand Van Helden & DJ A-Trak has recently surfaced around the internet. Apparently the two club DJ heroes are combining forces to make traditional disco club music. I think this project should be quite inspiring considering the minds involved. I am not too fond of the dance scene but I was all about this throwback style video and track. I’m not sure how this video was done, but the mood it sets is perfect. I hope they shot this video because if they did it was done perfectly.I also included a video of them explaining how and why they have teamed up. Enjoy and get your Hustle on.

Earth Wind & Fire Are Cool Again?

Apparently, Earth Wind & Fire is cool again. Now don’t me wrong, in my book Earth Wind & Fire has always been dope and always will be, but recently President Obama has hired them on more then one occasion to rock a party. This has resulted in Earth Wind & Fire having a boost in concert and CD sales! Ellis at Newsweek had to say this about the event,

“In February, the group performed in the East Room of the White House at the Governors’ Ball. It was the Obamas’ first formal dinner. And it set the cultural tone for a president who had previously put Earth, Wind & Fire (along with Stevie Wonder, Elton John, and the Rolling Stones) among the pop influences of his teen years.” – Newsweek

In all honesty, Earth Wind & Fire is amazing and they do deserve a second chance, because they are great musicians. But, I really just posted all of this to have an excuse to put this video up. 1) This video is someh0ow lame and trippy at the same time and 2) this is the greatest boogie track ever written 3) September just passed and 4) look at those outfits…. so ill. Haha.

Brother Ali “Us” Behind The Scenes

I recently came across this video that showcases all of the people and faces that went into making Brother Ali’s new album “Us”. Jonathan Chapman does an amazing job of showing all the work and love that went into this album. The shots and color in this video are top notch. Check it out and see how crisp it is. Also, I love the little kid clapping his hand like he means it.
