A couple nights ago I was up late messing around with some mash ups, and then all of the sudden I had this strange dance mix in a couple of hours. I decided to run with it, and do some artwork. So I drew up this goofy cover, and even decided to release a couple different options with the album so you can choose what cover matches your iPod or whatever it is people do now.

Today I dropped one new mash up. This was a joint I had lingering in the vaults but didn’t know what to do with. I decided it was a cool song though and gave it to my friend The Music Ninja. I also got to do some really fresh artwork for this release. I love just doing simple hand drawn type stuff right now. Here is what the ninja had to say if you missed out too:

DJ K.O. returns with another amazing release that I was fortunate enough to be a part of again. Through this whole series we have decided to keep the covers relatively simple and close to older jazz album covers of the 60s and 70s. Don’t sleep on this crew. DJ K.O. is amazing at scouting talent and really knows how to find emerging underground talent.

I remixed five songs for Oklahoma emcee Jabee. This project all started as me just really wanting to convey some sort of story about the idea of losing a love. Many people have gone through this phenomenon in life, and it particularly becomes heavier to deal with around Valentines Day. Hopefully this connects with some heartbroken, lonely people out there and they enjoy. None of this is meant to be emo, but rather honest about the human experience we all go through. Hopefully, it makes people laugh and nod in understanding. I used no samples on this whole project besides on the Many Gyrls remix. Anyways, check it out, its free. Enjoy it. Dedicated to all the broken hearted and all the girls I ever loved. Check the artwork I did too.

What began as a few remixes for emcee Jabee quickly escalated into a full on commentary into the loss of love and all matters of the heart circulating around Valentine’s Day. So after a month of keeping this video on ice I have decided to drop it finally. This routine is dear to my heart, and was fun to make. I did this in one take with the cameras rolling!

DJ Sober of Decade Clothing recently approached me and asked me to do a flyer for an upcoming Top Notch event with 7l, DJA1, and himself. This was pretty cool because these guys are talented artists themselves and don’t really need my help at all, but of course I accepted. I wanted to make this flyer very regal and make it look like an old letter press invitation to a scholarly club or something. I really enjoyed the way this came out. I didn’t stray far from me usual style but I tried some new things that I really enjoyed. If you get a chance too stop by The Cavern on the 28th and check this event out! Should be dope!

The time has come again where I release my ridiculous fun filled mash ups to the public. I still can honestly say I hate mash ups. The challenge is really in how dope or ridiculous you can make something by blending two songs together. The creativity is different from making beats. That being said I present the first leak off of my mash up EP entitled “Rad Jams, Bro!” I decided to mash Rick Ross and Spoon because I thought the product would be hilarious to say the least. Hearing Rick Ross’ deep voice over the musical stylings of one of indie rocks most cherished bands was too much for me to handle. Also, I realized I dropped this right around the corner to Spoon’s new album. There must be something in the air that tipped me off. DJ K.O. continues on his journey maintaining his path. I really have to say how impressed I am with this whole project. Mainly because visually DJ K.O. wants to stick to one concept and make it all fit together in a series. I think this is brilliant. The repetitiveness of the visuals create a brand. When you see the same style of covers day in and day out you know who is dropping it. Not to mention if you have heard any of this stuff you know its dope. Props to Elementality for keeping it going. This installment also sees some awesome guest appearances creep in with Finale and Chaundon putting it down. Thanks to Potholes and 2dope for pushing this.

Objektiv One X Curly Castro “What Is It Good For?”

Curly Castro’s track actually dropped last week, but I have been preoccupied with drinking and performing outlandish shenanigans so I don’t even know if I deserve a late pass. However, I got to do the artwork for this one and it was very fun. The theme was an anti-war track and the question posed was “What Is It Good For?”. I thought the people most likely to ask that question were the soldiers who lived through battle. I wanted to try to create a story of a soldier returning home who never really wanted to go to war but ended up being drafted and going anyways. So it is reminiscent of Vietnam era as well, which I think symbolizes a lot of what we are going through now in many ways. Either way, Curly Castro delivers it with Rockess Monsta and Inglish. Get down on this track. Shout out to everyone involved in this.
