Last night I spent time with my friend Will. We were sifting through the 10,00 terrible movies you can stream instantly on NetFlix and we came across Realms Of The Unreal. Being the huge fan of documentaries that I am, I had already seen it, but it had been a long period of time since I have. I immediately exclaimed “Dude, you have to watch this. It truly in unreal.” The documentary Realms Of The Unreal is about Henry Darger, a strange man from Chicago who dedicated his whole life to writing a 15,145-page single spaced fantasy book entitled The Story of the Vivian Girls, in What is known as the Realms of the Unreal, of the Glandeco-Angelinnian War Storm, Caused by the Child Slave Rebellion. Darger spent his whole life in seclusion and his amazing work was not discovered until he had passed away. His work was also accompanied with hundreds of paintings, charts, graphs, manuscripts, etc to accompany the story. If you have never seen or heard of this documentary I suggest you watch it and be amazed at the depths of the human mind. It should be an inspiration to any artist out there who even slightly loses faith in what they do. I have included links to watch the whole documentary, the trailer, and some of Darger’s amazing pieces of art.
