Objektiv One

I recently have been obsessed with photo realism. I have delved into this type of work lately because I think that realism is perfect for expressing certain emotions, specifically shock, horror, and loneliness. Recently Headkrack came to me with a concept for an album cover. He wanted a bear eating a child. At first I wasn’t sure what to do because to portray something like this. To make accomplish the mammal on mammal violence it would require a photo of the event occurring in real life (which I dreaded searching for, and which begged many other question like “why was this person photographing this instead of stopping it”) or I would have to draw it. At first I drew it and it came out stylized and too cartoonish, which I liked but it just doesn’t suit Headkrack’s music. However, over the course of the last couple weeks I have sharpened my Photoshop skills! At first the concept showcased the bear after eating the child, but I think the capturing of the suspense in this cover was what made me love it. The child has not been eaten in this image so I am not a total sadist…. I just implied it. Also, if you don’t know Headkrack by now you should. I love the way he spits and always have. Make sure you stay on the lookout for this.
