I found out about this event though Flavorwire. Apparently, in 2006 Scion commissioned all of these artists to create skywalker balloons for our our solar system’s “formal acceptance into the universe.” I really just love that all of these people spent their time making these wonderful characters. I think if the rest of the universe saw this they would remember out solar system for a long time. That’s a great first impression when being the new kid accepted into the universe. Check out the video of the parade too. Hopefully the rest of the universe understands our worlds fascination with balloons and parades though.
